Just Wright is a fun basketball based romantic comedy DVD starring Queen Latifah. Though this movie's plot and characters are as obvious as Shaquille O'Neal at a little people convention, Just Wright and especially Queen Latifah are good enough that it does not matter.
Physical therapist Leslie Wright (Queen Latifah) is a very good woman. Her blind date at the beginning of the movie says so before going on his way. New York Nets star Scott McKnight) is a very good man. You overhear him talk about his charity that takes care of orphans and him insisting he has to see the kids he is helping. Leslie's friend Morgan clearly states her career plan is to hook up with a star basketball player and get on the gravy train.
Self-centered Morgan hooks up with McKnight. McKnight then gets injured and needs a sports therapist and that is where good woman Leslie comes in.
This romantic comedy is amazingly predictable. What saves it and what keeps the viewer interested are Queen Latifah and the subtle bits of character development here and there that show this is more than a formulaic romcom.
The usual sports movie tropes are also paraded such as McKnight giving up on himself, going back to his roots to see what it is really all about, and then really getting back into shape.
Special features for this romantic comedy DVD are Common on The Fast Break, The One You Can't Live Without, and a Gag Reel.
