Breaking Bad season 3 begins exactly where season 2 left off with the aftermath of a major event. Also, high school science teacher and meth lab guru Walt (Emmy winner Bryan Cranston) has been kicked out of the house and Jesse (Emmy winner Aaron Paul) is in rehab. The series opens with a very strange scene that reveals two Mexican hit men are going after Walt. Breaking Bad Season 3 features 13 episodes on 4 DVD and 10 hours of special features. If you liked the first two seasons of this original gritty drama the third season does not disappoint. Blu-ray at Amazon
Season 3 opens with Skyler finding out what Walt is up to and kicking him out of the house. Jesse is fresh out of rehab. Walt jr, a most annoying character, does not take the separation well and neither does Walt.
Jesse has a bit of a surprise for his parents. Episode 2 features some very strange goings on at the White household. In episode 3 Walter’s moneyman Gus has a meeting with the cartel boss and Skyler has to make a decision. Episode 4 has a particularly funny moment when Walt bitches to Jesse about giving his formula a bad name by making inferior stuff.
Later on, Hank, Walt’s DEA brother-in-law, gets a break in the Heisenberg case and has a decision to make. The twin hit men get a new target.
Walt gets a whole new fancy secret lab. The episode 8 scene where Jesse is alone in the lab is a riot. It also seems restaurant owner Gus has a bit of a dark sense of humor and a great talent for business.
Episode 9 features a nice, succinct lesson on money laundering and Skyler’s talent for spinning a yarn. In later episodes Walt’s wife goes into business for herself, Jesse meets a new girl, and Walt has to outmaneuver Gus.
Breaking Bad still has the magic three seasons in.
