I regret not catching Murdoch Mysteries when it originally aired on CITY TV. I, fans of the series, and those looking for an original and non-violent whodunit series will do well to tune FX Canada December 24th at 10 for the first of 13 consecutive Murdoch Mysteries in a marathon presentation. The 13 will be repeated twice so there is no excuse to miss any show.
Murdoch Mysteries takes place in Toronto at the turn of the previous century. Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) is a young detective who uses all the newfangled forensic techniques to solve crimes. He is ably assisted by Dr. Julia Ogden (Helene Joy) and Constable Crabtree (Jonny Harris). Murdoch relies on observation, reearch, and intelligence to solve the crimes that come across his desk. He gets the grudging support of his superior Inspector Brackenreid.
Canadian TV is often bland and the acting usually lacks any semblance of energy. This is not the case here. The stories are also well written and regular viewers will appreciate the diversity of actors in secondary roles.
We do not know which of the first four seasons of Murdoch Mysteries will be in the marathon but we are still very much looking forward to it.
Fans of another mystery TV series Terriers will be watching FX Canada December 27th at 5 p.m. for a four episode spree and Dec. 28th at 6 for a three episode set.
