Be forewarned: if you watch the pilot episode of Alcatraz you are automatically hooked.
It was a dark and stormy night in 1963 when two guards arrived on Alcatraz for their shift and discovered every single guard and inmate had vanished. Almost fifty years later inmate Jack Sylvane reappears on Alcatraz and then sets out to kill the warden.
Enter Detective Madsen (Sarah Jones, Sons of Anarchy). She is at the crime scene when a heavy handed federal agent (Sam Neill as Emerson Hauser) takes her crime scene over. Jones continues her investigation with the help of Alcatraz expert Dr. Diego Soto (Jorge Garcia, Lost). She eventually discovers the truth and she and Soto are recruited by Hauser.
It would seem the story arc is going to be there is a crime, Hauser, Madsen, and Soto investigate and find out which Alcatraz inmate is responsible and then chase him down. The other story is of course going to be who is behind all of this and this involves a nefarious government cover-up.
Alcatraz sure promises to be an interesting series.
Alcatraz airs Mondays at 9 on CITY TV starting January 23 with the premiere airing Jan 16th at 8 p.m.
