Starship Troopers Invasion is a pretty good action movie even if the motion capture and some of the animation is not quite there yet. Invasion (aka Starship Troopers 4) is faithful to the franchise with lots of bugs and carnage, and some T & A so it is fun to watch. Where it fails most visibly is with the lipsync even if the Japanese studio used American actors. That, and the fact character light and shadows are also a bit off.
Generally though you get used to everything in the first few minutes and the rest is a better than average B franchise movie.
Starship Troopers Invasion features some characters from the first movie: Rico, Ibanez, Carl Jenkins, and Rasczak. Those unfamiliar with the mytharc need not worry though as foreknowledge is not needed.
Two ship go on a rescue mission. Ibanez loses her ship the John AWarden to telepath Jenkins and is then transferred to the Alesia. When the Warden goes dark, the crew of the Alesia is charged with finding it. Secondary stories include a love affair and a soldier named Hero who was placed under arrest by Jenkins.
One of the ships is infested by bugs and makes it to earth where the final showdown happens. The movie features a lot of shooting and dying.
Special features includes a fake blooper reel and a director's commentary track that is also available as a subtitle only. It unfortunately contains a few spoilers.
