Be Healthy and Happy is a collection DVD of episodes from the television program It's a Big Big World.
It is the story of the World Tree, and the creatures that live there. The creatures are puppets of various rainforest animals that include Snook the sloth (the "host" of the show) and Wartz the tree frog, and lots of others as well.
There are 5 episodes in this collection, and the focus is on health. Balance, Wartz's Workout, Sappy Monkey, A Good Heartbeat, and Roots Rock are the titles included here.
They all include good messages about living well, and looking after your body, listening to what your body tells you, and finding your place in the bigger scheme of things. The characters are well thought out, and there is lots of variety and colour in the scenery.
This is a very relaxing show (how could it be other wise with a sloth as the host?), and the music is very good.
Both of the adults in my house like It's a Big Big World because it is so relaxing and comforting, however, there would be an age limit for kids - my youngest (3 years old) has a hard time staying with the show. The characters are perfect for him, but the messages are a little over his head, the language and concepts presented are beyond kids under 5 years old.
The older kids (5, 7, and 8) like the show, and the language used is geared for their age range. They also like the characters, and I found them singing along with the songs on Be Healthy and Happy.
The first time around with this DVD, my kids seemed to be ambivalent, but when they asked to watch it the second time around I know we had a winner.
This is a good DVD for kids aged 5-10.
