It could certainly be more clearly mentioned on the Fans’ Choice Stargate Atlantis Blu-ray that there are two episodes on the disc and they are Rising., the Stargate Atlantis pilot, and the last season 5 episode, Enemy at the Gate. This is the kind of low-ball marketing trick that annoys this consumer. This said, and if you do not have the complete Stargate Atlantis DVD sets, Fans Choice is a good addition to any SF movie library.
Rising, the Stargate Atlantis pilot, sets up the main characters and story lines for the five-season series. Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Higginson) convinces General O’Neill to give her the ZPM so she can open the gate to the lost city of Atlantis. Once there, her crew starts exploring Atlantis, go through another gate to the Pegasus galaxy, encounter a group of nomads, and come in contact with the Wraith, the main villains of this science-fiction series.
Enemy at the Gate, the second episode on this Stargate Atlantis Blu-ray and the last episode of the series, is one hell of a puddle jump from the pilot five seasons earlier. Todd, a recurring Wraith baddie, contacts Atlantis to give them some disturbing news: the Wraith have acquired ZPMs and are ready to attack earth. Of course, Sheppard and the Atlantis crew cannot let that happen
Enemy at the Gate being the last episode of the TV series, little time is wasted establishing characters or storyline. It is basically all action all the time.
Stargate Atlantis Fans’ Choice Blu-ray is an odd release. Fans of the TV science fiction series already have the DVD sets. There is nothing new of interest on this Blu-ray disc. Not that I did not enjoy it a lot.
