True Blood Season 2 Blu-ray
Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell
12 episodes 5 Blu-ray Discs
Originally Broadcast HBO
Warner Home Entertainment 2010

Season 2 of True Blood is more soap operatic so a little less interesting than the first season. The show is also gorier but its sense of humor is a little better and darker. Tru Blood Season 2 is a 12 episode 5 Blu-ray disc set.  If you are a fan, True Blood Blu-ray is the way to go for season 2. Each episode features Enhanced Viewing which gives Character Perspectives, Flashback or Flash Forward to and from important plot points, Pro and Anti Vampire feeds, and a Trivia track that also includes hints and clues. There are other special features.

True Blood Season 2 Blu-ray continues the Sookie - Bill story and brings in new twists that make the series interesting including a couple of feature creatures. Sookie does some detective work on behalf of the local vampire leader. Jessica, the seventeen year old brat Bill made as a vampire is especially fun. An anti vampire religious group recruits Jason Stackhouse. Social worker Maryann turns out to be a maenad -a sort of very sexual being looking for a sacrifice-and she really takes to Bon Temps. Lafayette, one of Sookie's friends, is in a lot of trouble. Tara may be in trouble too.

Season 2 of True Blood is not quite as strong as the original season. Sookie's hissy fits with Bill are getting tiresome. The first one, in episode 1, is especially badly acted. Episode 1 itself is all over the place trying to set up and resolve too much at the same time. In a few episodes you get the feeling some scenes are just filler. For example Maryann's three parties when one would have gotten the point across.

Some of the dialogue is simply atrocious. For example this exchange in Dallas about a vampire's plan: "It's not a plan, it's a movie." "It's not a movie, it's a war."

There are also quite a few instances of really bad post production voice-overs where the actor is obviously in the studio adding or redelivering a line.

Still, fans of the series will be pleased with the second season.  True Blood Blu-ray Season One

Other special features for True Blood Season 2 Blu-ray include The Vampire Report, a feature on the Fellowship of the Sun, 7 audio commentary tracks with various cast and crew.
